Whats Petco spending all that money on anyways?

Whats Petco spending all that money on anyways? It certainly isn't animal care or associate training...

Look at these price differences between Petco and PetSmart:

Exact Items, online prices quoted on 6/12/09

Hills Science Diet indoor adult cat food

Petco: $46.99

PetSmart: $38.99

That is an $8 difference, or for me about a 2 bag savings each year. What the hell is Petco doing with that extra money? The animals certainly aren't getting it...

And for the record: I have no association to PetSmart or any Petco competitor. I just think Petco SUCKS!

Stop The Wholesale Slaughter of Marine Life at Petco!

I came across this fantastic effort by some to petition Petco to stop killing Marine life. The conditions at nearly all Petco's arent even remotly adequate for proper marine care. You know that Petco ANTICIPATES up to a 50% loss from its marine life? If they have only a 30% loss its considered fantastic! Its all about the dollar$. What about the 50, 100, 200, and more lives that are lost in each store (including freshwater) every day due to innadequate care and equipment? Multiply that by 900 stores...Please help stop the slaughter and sign this petition:

Look how the associates just make excuses to mask the problem. I wonder if Petco spent as much time providing proper animal care training as they did damage control and denial techniques would we still see videos like this?

I will admit the video does seem to be at least a year or two old, but if you check the source (YouTube) you will see a very active line of recent comments that show customers are still having these experiences.

Well, I will get this started. Reason 1 why Petco Sucks!

The quote below is from a story PETA ran this past November regarding some of the live animal providers Petco (and Petsmart) use to fill its stores:

"...PETCO, like PetSmart, continues to sell countless other animals who are bred, born, and warehoused in cruel animal mills such as Rainbow World Exotics (RWE). We met with PETCO last January before breaking our RWE investigation to show its representatives footage of the horrific conditions we found during our investigation at RWE. Though PETCO pledged to make some improvements, it continues to buy small animals from RWE...."

So even though PETA showed Petco a video of abuse and neglect at one of their live animal suppliers, they still choose to do business with them. I guess the mighty dollar is more important than animal well being...
