The irony is that the very money they use to pay the settlement is the money earned from the abused animals. When will it end?

Mommy, where do my pets come from?
Another disturbing video from a supplier to Petco (and other pet retailers)
The video is VERY UNPLEASANT, do not view if easily upset: VIDEO
Can it get much worse than that? Go look into your cute little fur-balls eye's right now and wonder what it endured before coming to you. Makes you just sick.

Sometimes words just cannot describe...
THIS VIDEO CONTAINS ANIMAL ABUSE, DO NOT WATCH IF EASILY UPSET!
You have been warned: Video
This is a supplier of animals to Petco (and others). This is where your pets are coming from, how does that make you feel? When presented with this video, the suits at Petco quickly devised a way to cash in on it.
The sentiment of the article is about the ability of Petco to profit from the appalling treatment of these animals. Petco takes these animals in under the guise of adopting them out. But when was the last time you took home a new companion without opening your wallet for supplies? That "adopted" hamster from Petco will cost you about $100 to set up (at least). Who gets that money? You guessed it.
Companies like this make money on both sides of animal health or abuse. It's just sickening.

MetroPets Online: Petco - Nationwide Hell for Animals
I don't have a date for this article, but its riveting none the less.
Couple of quotes:
"...Eatontown, New Jersey PETA staff members saw rats bleeding from their nostrils and writhing in pain. When they approached an employee about the animals, they were told, "There's nothing [the store] can do. We sell pets. We're not an animal hospital."..."
And this:
"...Des Moines, Iowa A hamster with a severe ear infection and blood dripping from her nose was not given any veterinary care. A Petco employee simply put a sign on her cage that said, "Dying, just leave her alone."..."
Just leave her alone...Wow.
